Many Christians assume that "morality" and "Christian morality" are the same thing, and that the Bible contains clear moral guidelines that only savages could disagree with. Fundamentalists insist that every word of the Bible is literally true, and the Christian Right wants to rewrite this country's Constitution and its laws to make America a Christian nation based on the Bible. Yet few Christians actually read the Bible. Instead, they let ministers and money-hungry evangelists selectively quote the Bible to their own advantage, ignoring the many absurdities, atrocities and historical falsehoods that the Bible contains. Before you let others make up your mind for you, read what the Bible really says:
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. Isaiah 45:7
Would you worship a god who creates evil?
The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; Zephaniah 2:11
The Bible itself says that there are many gods, not just Jehovah!
This is polytheism; do you believe it?

6) If you feel in your heart that your religion is the right one, how do you answer those of other faiths who claim the same thing?
7) How do you settle the debate and find out which of these religions, if any, is the right one?
8) Why does God allow all these false religions to exist?
9) Is the bloody history of Christianity consistent with what is supposed to be a religion of love, or does it simply illustrate the consequences of abandoning reason for faith?
10) If everything is the product of a grand design by an omniscient, benevolent designer, why is the history of life a record of horrible suffering, blundering waste, and miserable failures? Why does this God go through billions of years of such carnage without yet arriving at His goal?

founders of modern science. His ideas changed the world-view of human and animal origins. His influence is now prominent in biology, sociology, philosophy and theology. Until recently, many of his views on religion were suppressed.
In his old age Darwin wrote down his recollections for his own amusement and for his children.
This Autobiography was first published in 1887 (posthumously) as part of Life and Letters of Charles Darwin. His wife Emma and his son Francis edited the book and omitted Darwin's more
unorthodox thoughts on religion for fear of causing offense and injuring his reputation.
It was not until 1958 that Nora Barlow, Darwin's granddaughter, published a revised edition of
the Autobiography containing all of the previous omissions. This leaflet contains quotations from
his Autobiography which reveal valuable insights he gained during his life and his work on the
most important principle in biology.
Evolving Disbelief
"Whilst on board the Beagle (October 1836-January 1839) I was
quite orthodox, and I remember being heartily laughed at by several of the officers (though
themselves orthodox) for quoting the Bible as an unanswerable authority on some point of morality. I suppose it was the novelty of the argument that amused them. But I had gradually come, by this
time, to see that the Old Testament; from its manifestly false history of the world, with the Tower of Babel, the rainbow as a sign, etc., etc., and from its attributing to God the feelings of a revengeful tyrant, was no more to be trusted than the sacred books of the Hindoos, or the beliefs of any barbarian." p.85

in the miracles by which Christianity is supported, --that the more we know of the fixed laws of

The Design Argument "The old argument of design in nature, as given by Paley, which formerly

We can no longer argue that, for instance, the beautiful hinge of a bivalve shell must have been made by an intelligent being, like the hinge of a door by man. There seems to be no more design in the variability of organic beings and in the action of natural selection, than in the course which the
wind blows. Everything in nature is the result of fixed laws." p.87
Existence Of Suffering
"That there is much suffering in the world no one disputes. Some have attempted to explain this
in reference to man by imagining that it serves for his moral improvement. But the number of
men in the world is as nothing compared with that of all the other sentient beings, and these other
suffer greatly without any moral improvement. A being so powerful and so full of knowledge as
a God who could create the universe, is to our finite minds omnipotent and omniscient, and it
revolts our understanding to suppose his benevolence is not unbounded, for what advantage can
there be in the sufferings of millions of the lower animals throughout almost endless time? This
very old argument from the existence of suffering against the existence of an intelligent first cause seems to me a strong one; whereas, as just remarked, the presence of much suffering agrees well with the view that all organic beings have developed through variation and natural selection." p.90The Existence Of God

drawn from the deep inward conviction and feelings which are experienced by moat persons. But

What it boils down to is this thing that is called religion. Which in my opinion is the worst thing that could have ever have been put upon this earth due to the many horrible things that have been done in the name of religion.If there was a God that wanted his creation to serve him in truth I would think that the facts would have been presented a little more precise then that of mere interputations of man.
Math is precise 1+1=2 there is no interputations to that.
Math is not even important to ones salvation. So I would hope that a message from above in the form of a book would be more precise.However it is not, it is very un-precise and is full of flaws.
Those who believe in their truth -- the only ones whose imprint is retained by the memory of men -- leave the earth behind them strewn with corpses. Religions number in their ledgers more murders than the bloodiest tyrannies account for, and those whom humanity has called divine far surpass the most conscientious murderers in their thirst for slaughter.
There are people who read too much: bibliobibuli. I know some who are constantly drunk on books, as other men are drunk on whiskey or religion. They wander through this most diverting and stimulating of worlds in a haze, seeing nothing and hearing nothing.
The Bible knows nothing of solitary religion.
Religions are the great fairy tales of conscience.
History, is made up of the bad actions of extraordinary men and woman. All the most noted destroyers and deceivers of our species, all the founders of arbitrary governments and false religions have been extraordinary people; and nine tenths of the calamities that have befallen the human race had no other origin than the union of high intelligence with low desires.
